Review Index:

Introduction

Labtec is a name familiar to many PC audio users as one of the major players in the multimedia speaker market. Most of their speaker line-up consists of relatively inexpensive 2 and 3-piece system and few of them target the so called hard core gamers offering better midrange than bass for the price. This image has started to change a bit with some of the more recent models offering a fairly powerful subwoofer for the price. One of these systems is Labtec’s 2.1 flat panel system, the Labtec Edge-418

This is in the form of two 26x13.5 cm flat panels driven by 5.5 watts RMS each and a subwoofer that uses a 5 ˝ inch driver driven by 19 watts RMS. In a design concept similar to Cambridge Soundworks FPS2000, the Edge-418 comes with an on/off switch and volume control that’s connected to the subwoofer/amp with an 8 foot cable. All of this comes at an affordable price of $80. In this review we will see if the Labtec Edge-418 has what it takes to be an effective entry into the value priced speaker market..

So on to detailed overview and installation
