Will Ben jilt Callum after Phil takes his revenge in EastEnders
Callum’s hopes of a happy-ever-after with the man he loves fade rapidly in EastEnders, as he fears fiancé Ben is about to call off their wedding!
Following Callum’s shock confession that he was gathering evidence against Phil for his corrupt boss Thompson, Ben was left reeling, and now has serious concerns about their future together.
So as the day of their wedding dawns, will Ben turn up – or leave Callum standing alone at the register office?
“Fundamentally, it comes down to Ben having to make a choice between his dad and Callum,” reckons Max Bowden, who plays Ben. “He sees his life with Callum, and going forward, Ben wants to step out of his father’s shadow. But it’s an unwritten rule that you don’t grass, so what Callum did is almost unforgivable.
“The stakes are massive,” he adds. “Ben must decide whether to go against what he knows, and what his world revolves around, to have a life that he wants with Callum.”
As Callum wakes up on his wedding day, he’s well aware that his confession has left Ben rattled. Yet he still believes that the love they have is strong enough to overcome any obstacle that gets in their way.
But not everyone shares Callum’s faith that Ben will show up to say “I do”. Kathy’s very worried for her son, and asks Phil to speak to him – but a pep talk from his dad does nothing to lift Ben’s spirits. And soon, Ben has disappeared, leaving his loved ones deeply concerned.
“There are lots of twists and turns to come this week,” teases Max. “There are huge decisions to be made, not just on the wedding front, but also personally for Ben. Nothing will be straightforward.”
Meanwhile, after word reaches the register office that Ben has gone AWOL, Callum is devastated. Stuart swings into action to track down the missing groom – and in the process manages to reveal the truth to Phil about Callum’s betrayal!
“When Callum finds out that Stuart’s told Phil, it’s a case of, ‘Oh no, what have you done?’” shares Tony Clay, aka Callum. “In trying to help the situation, Stuart’s made everything 10 times worse. But there is an element of, maybe now we can move forward.
“Phil and Callum must have a confrontation, but what that will be, we don’t know yet,” he adds. “This is Phil Mitchell we’re talking about – it’s not going to just be a case of forgive and forget…”
