Abi’s anguish as evil Corey crashes Seb’s funeral in Corrie
Grieving mum Abi faces the worst day of her life in Coronation Street, as she prepares to bury her murdered son Seb.
It’s a sad and emotional time for all of Seb’s loved ones, knowing that he was beaten to death in a brutal hate-crime attack. Even worse is the fact that the person believed to be responsible for dishing out the fatal blow, evil teen Corey, is walking free, with no evidence to prove that he’s the killer!
All hells breaks loose then, when shameless Corey shows his face at the funeral, and furious Abi decides to take matters into her own hands. Yet what nobody knows is that plucky schoolgirl Asha has been secretly gathering evidence against her on-off boyfriend, and is close to getting the proof she needs to convict him of the crime…
“Asha knows she can’t play dirty, because this situation is already dirty enough,” explains Tanisha Gorey, who plays Asha, in this week’s Inside Soap. “She’s a smart girl and knows what she needs to do – she requires proper information if she’s to get Corey arrested.”
Meanwhile, Abi’s heart is breaking while she prepares to lay her beloved son to rest. As the day of Seb’s final goodbye dawns, the grief-stricken mum is in pieces – and things get worse when Corey arrives at the wake, announcing that he’s there to pay his final respects!
But after Abi hears Corey on the phone, laughing about Seb’s death, she vows to make him pay – and picks up a broken bottle! Little does she realise that her plan to hurt Corey could completely derail Asha’s secret plot to get to the truth!
Luckily, Asha clocks what Abi is about to do, and manages to stop her before any damage is done. The two share a heart-to-heart, and Asha heads off to meet Corey, while Abi goes to score some drugs! Yet all is not as it seems…
Whether Asha finds the evidence she needs remains to be seen – although, soon, Abi and Nina arrive at the flat, desperate to find out if her plot has been successful.
However, when drugged Corey groggily tries to barge his way past them, he loses his balance and falls down the stairs! And as he lies unconscious at the bottom, the trio of women have a big decision to make…
“In that moment, Asha is consumed by hatred,” says Tanisha. “But at the same time, she’s just 16, and there’s a person lying unconscious in front of her – so she doesn’t know what to do!”
So, will Asha, Abi and Nina leave low-life Corey to die? Or will they call an ambulance, in the hope that Seb’s killer will finally face justice?
