Kim Tate serves up her revenge in Emmerdale
Conniving Kim Tate sets a trap to catch her poisoner in a crazy week of Emmerdale, by announcing her retirement and search for a successor to Home Farm!
She throws a formal lunch for the six people she believes are most likely to be trying to kill her by lacing her brandy with diazepam. The formal invitations arrive through each of the guests’ letterboxes on Monday, inviting them to join Kim for a business powwow with a difference.
Once the suspected six – Jamie, Dawn, Gabby, Jai, Al and Will – are assembled, Kim makes her big announcement…
“Kim throws a curveball by saying she plans to retire – she wants to see who is reeled in!” laughs Claire King, who plays her, in this week’s issue of Inside Soap.
“They’re shocked, but she convinces them she just wants to kick back and enjoy herself now that she’s made her millions. Her intention is to see who will be the most sycophantic, and who’ll go to the ends of the earth to succeed her. She’s determined to flush out the culprit.”
It’s an interesting guest list of potential successors at Kim’s table. Each one has something to gain from her retiring, easy access to Home Farm and a motive for murder. So far, Kim hasn’t been able to catch the poisoner, and has only ruled out Lydia, as she drank the spiked brandy.
Kim may also have to face the awful truth that someone she cares for could want her out: son Jamie, and Gabby, who’s pregnant with the next member of the Tate dynasty.
“Jamie is living in the house and that’s where the brandy is,” reasons Claire. “And Kim suspects Gabby because she has been stealing from her and might have ulterior motives about getting her hands on the estate. Kim doesn’t trust anybody!”

For now, Kim has to lie in wait to find out whether her announcement does the job. But although she’s closer to finding out who wanted her gone, what will she do when she finally has an answer?
“It’s a waiting game, but Kim holds all the cards,” promises Claire. “Knowing Kim, she will definitely get her revenge!”
