Fiz declares war on Tyrone and Alina in Corrie
Fiz finally explodes in Coronation Street, and announces that she’s launching a custody battle against Tyrone – but just how dirty will she play to get what she wants?
The drama begins when Fiz tells Tyrone it’s his turn to have the girls, and he realises he’s double-booked with work. So instead of telling Fiz, he asks Alina to take them. But after Alina is talked into giving Hope a makeover, Fiz is furious to later find her daughter wearing fancy fake eyelashes!
“Ty keeps promising he’ll have the girls, yet they end up with Alina, and that wasn’t part of the plan,” explains Jennie McAlpine, who plays the hurt mum, in this week’s Inside Soap. “Fiz really isn’t pleased, then when Alina does the eyelash extensions on Hope, it just proves to Fiz that her impression of Alina is right. I have to say, Fiz does possibly overreact, but Alina’s just giving Fiz ammunition to hate her more than she already does.”
Later, Tyrone receives a call from the school asking if he’ll pick up Hope because of her behaviour. And once he collects her, Hope takes her bad mood out on Alina before running into the road in front of a car!
“That really is the final straw for Fiz – it proves that Alina is irresponsible,” says Jennie. “Alina’s just a kid herself, and she’s not fit to look after her children. Fiz announces that from that point on, she doesn’t want Alina anywhere near her kids. It comes from a place of hurt, of being humiliated and angry, but it’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back…”
Determined to put the girls’ safety first, she tells Tyrone he won’t be seeing either of them until there’s a consent order in place. But she’s left reeling as Tyrone curtly reminds her that Ruby is his daughter, not hers. Furious at him, Fiz heads to see Adam to make things official.
“Fiz thinks she’s ready for a custody battle, but there’s a lot of anger there in the moment,” reveals Jennie. “I don’t know if Fiz really wants to go down that route. Fiz decides that Ty and Alina aren’t responsible, so both the kids should be her sole responsibility – however, deep down I don’t think she really wants that to happen…”
Later, Tyrone is breathalysed by police officer Craig, and accuses his ex of trying to have him arrested to better her chances of custody. Has Fiz now crossed a line she can never come back from?
