Baby bombshell for Tyrone and Alina in Corrie
Alina drops a huge bombshell on Tyrone in Coronation Street, as she blurts out that she’s expecting his baby! But how is Fiz going to react when she discovers the news?
The drama begins with the feud between Tyrone and his ex seemingly thawing as they plan for Kirsty’s funeral. The death of Tyrone’s ex has shaken them both up, and he and Fiz have had to unite to explain to Ruby that her mum has passed.
But while things are looking up for the exes, Alina makes a shocking announcement.
“Alina never planned to have a baby this early on in her life,” explains Ruxandra Porojnicu, who plays the mum-to-be, in this week’s Inside Soap.
“She’s still young, and Alina doesn’t know how Tyrone will react. He already has two children, so she’s unsure if he’ll be enthusiastic about having another baby…”
Alina prepares to confide in Tyrone about the pregnancy, but when she arrives at the factory, she overhears someone talking about Ty’s history with abusive Kirsty – something she knew nothing about.
“That revelation makes Alina question their relationship,” reveals Ruxandra. “Usually, you’d share something like this with your partner. So Alina feels a bit left behind when she finds out that he didn’t. Also, the fact that he preferred to go and speak with Fiz about Kirsty leaves her feeling in the dark. Every time Tyrone turns to Fiz, the doubts start to creep in.”
Feeling upset, Alina confronts Tyrone about keeping his past from her, but ends up blurting out that she’s pregnant in the process. And she’s left further distraught when Ty doesn’t stick around to talk about it.
“Tyrone needs some time to process things,” reasons Ruxandra. “However, he does come round in the end, and he attempts to be supportive, to convince her and himself that they’ll both be okay. Ty and Alina really do love each other, though, and I think that’s the most important thing…”
On the day of Kirsty’s funeral, Alina continues to suffer with morning sickness, and decides to stay at home. Realising that Tyrone is going alone, Fiz offers to go with him to lay Kirsty to rest. Tyrone chooses to stay quiet about the pregnancy until they get home, where he tells Fiz the whole shocking truth.
